Australia – 05.11.2015
The Quarantine station in Sydney and Perth has been permanently closed.
The new Post Entry Quarantine (PEQ) facility on a Commonwealth owned site is in Mickleham, Victoria. The new PEQ facility will consolidate all of the department’s current PEQ operations into a single site.
Government operated PEQ facilities manage high risk imported animal and plant commodities and are a key component of Australia’s biosecurity system. Secure and efficient post entry quarantine discourages smuggling and reduces biosecurity risk associated with the importation of new genetic material which is necessary for Australian agriculture to maintain competiveness and productivity.
Information about the design, construction and transition of operations to the new PEQ facility is available on the PEQ GovSpace website.
